Lane County is welcoming Cheryl Betschart as the new Lane County Clerk.

However, Betschart is a familiar face to the organization. From 1990 to 1998, Betschart worked as a supervisor at Lane County Elections overseeing staff, supervising up to 125 extra help workers during elections, and updating procedures in compliance with federal, state and county laws. In 2005-06, she was involved in the testing of the new statewide voter registration and election system.

During the past two years, Betschart worked Primary and General elections and served most-recently as acting program supervisor in Elections.

“I’m looking forward to performing the County Clerk functions and working with the amazing staff in Elections and Records,” Betschart said.

Betschart has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Oregon State University.

She assumed County Clerk duties February 6.
