It’s one of the single-most important documents produced each year by Lane County. It is a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool all rolled into one. It shares what money is available, where it goes, what services are provided and at what cost.
And, it’s award winning.
Lane County’s Budget & Financial Planning Division and Document Resource staff received recognition by the Lane County Board of Commissioners today for their award winning Fiscal Year 2009-10 adopted budget.
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada has awarded Lane County’s Fiscal Year 2009-10 budget document with the Distinguished Budget and Presentation Award. The County’s adopted budget has received this honor six times.
This is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by Lane County government and its staff.
Lane County’s Budget & Financial Planning Division works extensively to prepare this document with the help of department leaders, county administration and document resources.
“We are honored to receive an award that is designed to encourage governments to prepare top-quality budget documents in an effort to better inform our residents about the County’s finances,” said Christine Moody, interim Budget and Financial Planning manager. “One goal for our budget document is that it leads to informed decision making and more accountability in Lane County government. This award is one indication that we are headed in the right direction.”
The Fiscal Year 2009-10 adopted budget was judged by an independent panel of reviewers to meet the high standards of the GFOA. GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving 16,000 government finance professionals.
