Balancing Lane County’s budget is a complex process requiring months of preparation prior to the final adoption by the Lane County Board of Commissioners.

In advance of the budget adoption process, two Lane County Budget Committee work sessions have been scheduled to provide committee members with budget-related information.

The first work session begins at 6 p.m., next Tuesday, February 2 in Harris Hall (125 E. Eighth Ave., Eugene) and will include presentations on the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS), County health benefits, local labor and economic trends, and the state budget including legislative information.

The second work session will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 9 in Harris Hall (125 E. Eighth Ave., Eugene) and will include presentations on the long-term debt of Lane County, a review of the fees and taxes charged by the County, and the steps Lane County has taken toward long-term financial planning.

These work sessions do not include public comment. However, community members are welcome to attend.

The official budget adoption process kicks off April 29.
