Lane County Public Health officials have reviewed more than 50,000 immunization records and letters are going out later this week to about 2,500 families whose children’s records are not up-to-date for required school immunizations. Exclusion Day is February 15th.
“By maintaining your child’s immunizations, you are protecting the health of your own child and that of other vulnerable classmates who may be at increased risk of severe complications from vaccine preventable diseases,” said Martha deBroekert, LCPH Immunization coordinator.
Parents may call LCPH at 541-682-4041 for immunization appointments. There will also be a drop-in immunization clinic on Exclusion Day at LCPH from 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. – but don’t wait until then or your child will miss school. Lane County Public Health is now located at 151 W. Seventh Avenue on the third floor. There is parking available in nearby city garages and limited street parking.
Children can also receive their required immunizations at their private provider, or school based health clinics.
Cost should not be a barrier to required immunizations, which are covered by the Vaccine for Children program.
