Oregon state law requires that applicants be at least 17 years of age to obtain a marriage license.  Applicants who are 17 must have parental consent.  Consent may be in the form of a notarized statement from a parent, or a parent must be present with the applicant to sign a consent form.

We recommend that you bring your birth certificates when applying for your marriage license.  Various State and Federal agencies require that the information on your marriage license exactly match the corresponding information on your birth certificate.

The following information is required on the marriage license for both the bride and groom:

• Address
• Date of Birth
• Place of Birth
• Father’s Name
• Father’s place of birth
• Mother’s Maiden Name
• Mother’s place of birth
• If either party has been married before, you will need to know the ending date of the last marriage.

The total cost of a marriage license is $60.00, which is non-refundable .  We accept personal checks, money orders or cash.  We do not accept debit or credit cards.

The license becomes effective, and may be used no sooner than three days after the date of application.  This three-day waiting period may be waived.  To waive the waiting period, the requirements are:  complete a waiver request form and pay both the $60.00 marriage license fee and the $4.00 waiver fee in cash. 

Once issued, the marriage license is valid for 60 days and may be used anywhere in the State of Oregon.

Civil Marriage Ceremonies

Lane County Deputy Clerks are available to perform civil marriage ceremonies at the Public Service Building at 9:00am and 9:30am, Monday through Friday.

In order to schedule your marriage ceremony you must have purchased your marriage license.  The fee for a civil ceremony is $25.00, in cash or check only, payable at the time of the ceremony.  The fee is non-refundable.

Couples are responsible for bringing two witnesses to the ceremony.


Ordering a Certified Copy of Your Marriage License

If a marriage license was issued by Lane County, we can provide a certified copy.  To order a certified copy of a Lane County marriage license, complete and print the fillable pdf form found below  Mail the form to the address below along with a check for $7.75 for the first certified copy, plus $4.00 for each additional certified copy.
