Title III Information 
Secure Rural Schools - Title III Funding for FY 12-13 - 2008 ACT (PL 110-343)

Lane County will soon receive the final payment for the Secure Rural Schools Act of 2008 (PL 110-3243).  As we look forward to FY 12-13, we anticipate a remaining balance of approximately $2 million.  The authority to initiatiate new projects ended on September 30, 2011.  The Board of Commissioners must obligate all remaining funds by September 30, 2012. 

Currently funded Title III projects may apply for FY 12-13 Title III Funding using the propsal below.  Proposal to extend current projects into FY 12-13 are due by January 20, 2012.  The Board will discuss Title III funding and give direction for the preparation of the proposed budget the first week of February.  The Board will not make final appropriations until adoption of the FY 12-13 Budget in June 2012.

Secure Rural Schools - Title III Funding for FY 12-13 - 2000 ACT (PL 106-393)

In addition to the 2008 Act funding, the Lane County Board of Commissioners may also allocate up to approximately $836,000 in funds from the 2000 Act (PL 106-393).  Proposals for new projects must meet one of the limited six uses specified by law for PL 106-343 Title III and are due by Friday, February 10, 2012.

Six uses specified by the law:
1.      Search, Rescue and Emergency Services
2.      Community Service Work Camps
3.      Easement Purchases
4.      Forest Related Educational Opportunities
5.      Fire Prevention and County Planning
6.      Community Forestry
