COMMITTEE VACANCY NOTICE

The Lane County Board of Commissioners in cooperation with the Cities of Eugene and Springfield through the Human Services Commission (HSC) is seeking applications from citizens interested in serving on the Human Services Commission Budget Planning Committee (Community Action Advisory Committee). 

The HSC Budget Planning Committee provides advice on services that alleviate the conditions of poverty and promote and improve the health, well being, self-sufficiency, and safety of low-income, disadvantaged and disabled Lane County residents.  The committee reviews the budget and plans for the operation of human services sponsored by the Human Services Commission.  A general list of services under the current budget and plan are:

• Crisis Intervention, Information and Referral, and Outreach Services for homeless, mentally-ill, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, Latinos and youth.
• Crisis Prevention Services assisting with rent, utility payments, energy conservation, financial management education and home weatherization.
• Emergency Housing and Access Center Services for homeless persons.
• Health Care for homeless and/or for low-income uninsured or underinsured persons.
• Self-Sufficiency Services including supportive housing, independent living, case management, rent assistance, and supportive services for families, at-risk youth and seniors.
• Nutrition Services including residential meals, food boxes, meal to go and soup kitchens.
• Veterans Services assisting veterans and/or dependants and survivors in obtaining veteran’s health, disability and other benefits.

Meeting Schedule:  Meets monthly and as needed during budget and planning cycles.

Membership:  Four members are designated to represent the jurisdictions public officials; four members are representatives for low-income persons including public welfare, advocacy organizations, and a human services recipient and urban and rural representative of low-income, and four members represent clergy, health care, criminal justice, and rural and urban communities

Vacancy:  (2) Two vacancies are under recruitment:  One (1) Public Official or Designee, and One (1) Low Income Representative.

Term of Appointment:  Four Years

SUBJECT:     VEGETATION MANAGEMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE (VMAC)

VEGETATION MANAGEMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE (VMAC):  Acts as a forum for public input into the County's Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) Program and Last Resort Ordinance.  Reviews roadside vegetation management needs and related issues and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.  Works with Public Works staff to establish roadside vegetation management priorities in keeping with available funds and IVM methodologies.  Reviews requests for vegetation management activities beyond the scope of routine maintenance.  Reviews the program standards and policies, including long-range planning for future program needs and prepares recommendations for Board action as necessary.  Serves as liaison group in representing the roadside vegetation management concerns of the community to the Board and representing Board decisions to the community.

MEETINGS:  Every other month. (Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m., 2nd week of the month)

MEMBERSHIP: 7 at-large members.

The Lane County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications from citizens interested in serving on the advisory committee listed below.  This committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Commissioners on a wide variety of topics and issues.  Details about the committee and its composition, meeting schedule, etc., are listed below.

PARKS ADVISORY COMMITTEE:  Advises the Board of County Commissioners on park  needs of County residents and visitors regarding County park facilities.  Recommends priorities for projects including financial and operational development and acquisition.  Also provides recommendations regarding long-range planning for future park programs and future park needs.  Serves as a liaison group representing the concerns of the community with regards to parks.

MEETINGS:  Monthly.

VACANCIES:  Two (2).

MEMBERSHIP:  Seven (7) At-large positions.
